Project Zomboid /// Changing the Server to B42 Unstable

Ideal is to reinstall the server if it has already been run on version B41 – shut it down, then click More and the Reinstall button, and then follow the steps below.

  1. Shut down the server.

  2. In the left menu you’ll find a new button: SteamUpdate – Latest Unstable.

  3. Wait until it finishes and then in the left menu click Commandline Manager and next to the line B42 – Unstable click the Select button.

  4. If you already have a save (i.e. the server was running on an older version), you need to delete the Zomboid folder completely. If you don’t, the server will crash.
(You can ignore this step if the server has been reinstalled.)

  5. The server will have the default config from version B41. Some settings are different in version B42. For comparison or to add some of the new lines, there is a prepared template in the config files (SandBoxVars_TemplateB42). However, you don’t have to do this for the server to run – it will work even without the new settings.
